6) Considerate Operator Guidelines for HFpack Freqs

HFpack Calling Frequencies are shared with all
operators: Base, Mobile, Portable, QRP, and QRO.
Portables/mobiles are given top priority. While
in QSO, operators are encouraged to help other
portable/mobile operators gain equal access to
the frequency every 15 minutes or so, and listen
often for weak stations calling.

NAQCC Sprint Wednesday night

NAQCC Sprint Wednesday night!

Our May sprint is this coming Wednesday evening local time (May 16, EST -
8:30-10:30PM, CST - 7:30-9:30PM, MST - 6:30-8:30PM, PST - 5:30-7:30PM) , which
translates as Thursday May 17, 0030-0230Z in all cases.

information.

Certificates: SWA (simple wire antennas) certificates by call area, VE and DX. A
Certificate for top score in the GAIN antenna category. Finally there is one
more award - a certificate to the highest score from a first-time participant.

Prizes: A prize of a set of bug/paddle handles or a K1/K2 knob insert donated by
master woodworker Gregg WB8LZG is awarded for each sprint to the winner of a
random drawing among all participants. Previous winners are not eligible.

This is a monthly event that caters to the CW veteran, the CW newcomer, straight
key and bug fans. All are welcome to participate (this includes QRO); but you
must use QRP power levels to compete for awards.

If you are not already a member of NAQCC... membership is FREE! Now is your

Buddipole DXpedition on Turks and Caicos


Anna W6NN and Rich KE1B will be QRV all this week and most of next week from VP5/Turks and Caicos Islands. Running an Icom IC-7000 and Buddipole from our villa right on the water.

Anna is QRV at this moment on 14260, but we will be on lots of bands and modes, holiday-style casual operation.

Hope to hear some other Buddipolers!

To celebrate the Portuguese Navy Day, the Núcleo de Radioamadores da Armada - NRA feels pleasure to announce the 10th edition of annual Amateur Radio Contest, called "Portuguese Navy Day".
The Contest is of international nature and it is open to all national and foreign Amateur Stations.
DATE AND PERIODS
The competition takes place on two separate dates;
Digitals: 260800 to 262000 May 2012;
SSB: 121500 to 131500 May 2012;
CW: 121500 to 131500 May 2012;
All UTC time.
(Digitals cover only PSK and RTTY)

The SSB and RTTY Club of COMO and the A.R.I. (Associazione Radioamatori Italiani) are pleased to
announce the details of the 46th "Alessandro VOLTA RTTY DX CONTEST". This contest is
organized to increase interest in RTTY mode as used by radio amateurs and to honor the Italian
discoverer of electricity, ALESSANDRO VOLTA.
TEST PERIOD: from 12:00 GMT Saturday May 12, 2012 until 12:00 GMT Sunday May 13, 2012. In
the future this event will take place on the second full week-end in May.
